On Monday, November 20, 2003, not only the department but the community of Breeding, KY lost one of its most valuable and most fun filled people with the up-most respect from everyone. That person was Bernard Janes, he was the Assistant Chief of the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department and one of it's founders. He truly was a person of courage and faith with any endeavor he choose.
Bernards Unit number on the department was 290, and this number has been retired and will never be issued to anyone ever again.
