OTHERWORLD FOOD CO-OP
Organic and Natural Foods and Groceries

HOW IT WORKS
A few of my neighbors and my husband and I started the co-op in 1999 because we wanted a way to buy organic foods, and to stop buying genetically modified products and factory farmed animal foods. We place an order with United Natural Foods Inc every four weeks.  My husband Greg drives his forklift to help unload the truck.

If you make an order, show up on the set pick-up day, or make another arrangement with me.  Place your order before the deadline, either by phone (270-433-7400) or email or snail mail.  My preference is phone for your first order, so that we can make sure we are talking about the same thing.  I will take your name and address and phone number so that I can register you as a member when I take your first order.

Since many items are available only by case or in large quantity, we split cases if enough people are interested.  If you want to split a case, make sure to get your splits suggestion (including item number) to me before 5 on Tuesday evening.  We have a potluck dinner (splits meeting) that evening before the ordering deadline.  If you are coming with food try to bring organic and/or locally produced food.

Here is Pat Ritter at the splits board,
recording people's bids on split items.

Once we place the group order, it will be about a week before we receive delivery.  I will send you a copy of your invoice via email as soon as I can download it from United, on Wednesday before the order is received.  On your invoice you will see what is coming on the truck and what is out of stock.  If your invoice shows zero in the price column next to an item, that means it will not be on the truck. If the item you ordered isn't on your invoice at all, I probably ordered from Frontier or filled it off the shelf.

Regularly co-op day (when you pick up your order) is one week after we ordered. We are able to take food stamps for eligible items.  Show up between 10 am and 4 pm, check your items against your invoice. Retrieve your frozen or refrigerated items from the coolers.  Sometimes they ship the wrong thing with the right sticker, so look at the item, not just the sticker.

The price on your invoice is catalog price, plus ten percent which pays expenses etc. If you've shopped Wild Oats or the other big natural foods stores, you will notice we can give lower prices on the same products.

The co-op building is off of highway 61, (Celina Road) 2 miles south of Burkesville.  You can't see the building till you start down the driveway.  1865 is on the mailbox.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.
