Where do I begin ... This trip was AWESOME! The weather was perfect. At first I was concern when the weather person gave colder than usual nights ahead. But, everything work out great. Let me first describe the plan for the trip.

The plans was to hike from Hwy 19 (Exit 451 upper right of map) to Newfound Gap (lower left). I would spend two nights out. Staying the first night at Cosby Knob, and the second at Peck's Corner shelter. I called ahead of time to reserve space in the shelter, because that is the rule for hiking in the Smoky's.

As you can see from the elevation the first day would be a continual uphill climb with the trail leveling off about the third day. Let's hit the trail.
