What can I say ... The first day I walked uphill ALL DAY LONG!
Eight hours of walking uphill with a 40 lb pack at about 1 mile an hour.
My reward near the end of the day was coming upon Mt Cammerer Observation Tower in the middle of nowhere at the top of the Smokies!

The view from the top of the tower could not be beat. The sky was crystal clear, and the air brisk. Swallows flew all around the tower while I look out unto the valley. The photo lab messed up my pictures so you will see some defects in the pictures. But it made the uphill climb worth it. Here I was at the top of the Smoky, miles from anywhere, looking out for miles....AWESOME!
